Intro
This is the Itch page for team 12, Dylan McBrien and Alex Bury. When deciding on what game we were aiming to make, we decided pretty quickly that we wanted to make a 2D side-scrolling platformer with a rope-swing mechanic. We wanted it to be fast-paced and difficult, comparable to Geometry Dash or Super Meatboy, with movement that felt fluid and satisfying when your timing allows you to conserve a lot of speed and momentum.
The prompt for our first prototypes was controls. We decided one of us would make a rough version of a platformer with a grapple hook swing, while the other would have more traditional movement with side-to-side movement and a jump button. The goal was to test the concept of the grapple, both in feasability and enjoyment while having a control to compare it to and an alternative foundation if the grapple idea didn't work out.
